Asame 朝雨 — Genmaicha

Asame 朝雨, “morning rain,” is a genmaicha from Fujieda, Shizuoka, combining spring-harvested green tea with traditionally toasted Japanese brown rice.

Genmaicha is loved for its balance: the fresh, grassy character of green tea meets the warm aroma and gentle nuttiness of roasted rice. In Asame, this contrast is especially harmonious, with the brightness of the tea softened by the comforting depth of the toasted grain.

The green tea is cultivated by the Kinezuka family’s NaturaliTea cooperative, whose farmers have worked together in the hills of Fujieda since 1976. The tea is grown without pesticides and with organic compost, reflecting their long-standing approach to cultivating tea in close relationship with the surrounding environment.
