Basic Matcha Bamboo Whisk - Rikyu Chasen

For the casual matcha tea drinker, this chasen, or bamboo tea whisk is a must. The whisk allows you to froth up a bowl of matcha tea while breaking apart clumps.

The Rikyu Chasen 利休茶筅 is named after the famous tea ceremony master Sen no Rikyu, and is made with dark bamboo, colored by charring the bamboo during creation.

• Care instructions

• Before using a chasen for the first time, let it set in hot water for 10 minutes in your matcha bowl, head down. Only dip half of the strings of the chasen in the water.

• Afterward, wet the chasen a little before every use to soften the bristles for making more foam and prevent damaging them.
